The Ambras Castle, built at the beginning of the 16th century in Innsbruck, is called one of the most interesting architectural landmarks of the city. The very first building on this site appeared in the 10th century, but it was in the 16th century that Archduke Ferdinand II turned it into a beautiful palace as you can see it today. In 1880 it was turned into a museum.

Long before the trip, many tourists book a car in Austria online in order to get a favorable rental rate, see more attractions and not depend on excursion groups. At Innsbruck the cost of a compact class car starts from 15 euros per day.

Today Ambras is divided into the Upper and Lower Castles. Here you can see unique interiors, the Spanish Hall, decorated in the style of the Renaissance, an art gallery (including a gallery of 300 portraits), the royal collection of curiosities and rarities, and a beautiful English park is spread around. The inner walls of the castle are also noteworthy - they are covered with amazing paintings with a three-dimensional effect. In summer, classical music concerts are often held here.

Inspection of the castle and a walk in the park will take about 2.5 hours. It is located to the south of the city center, at 20 Schlossstrae, on one of the low hills with a stunning view. You can get here by city bus number 4134 (go to the Schloss Ambras stop). Those who are going to go here by private transport should remember that the parking lot in front of the castle is almost always full.
