Many Russian and foreign tourists who choose Buryatia and Baikal for their summer vacations stop on Olkhon to rest. It is here that the majority of sanatoriums and rest houses are located, and in general, Baikal tourism has received significant development.

An indispensable assistant for tourists around the world is the online car booking service. In Russia, the average cost of renting a compact car will be about 20 euros per day, in Moscow you can rent a car from 16 euros per day.

The island combines the natural diversity of landscapes and some of the most magnificent views of Baikal with the mildest, in comparison with the rest of the lake, climatic conditions. Active recreation is very popular on Olkhon. Here you can quite often meet tourists traveling on foot, and entire groups of cyclists plowing the expanses of the island. No less popular here are one-day routes with a return at the end of the day to the amenities of a sanatorium or rest home.

The coastline of Olkhon is heavily indented in many places, and the rocks approach almost to the water's edge. Cape Khoboy is located in the north of the island, from which you can admire the picturesque opposite shore of the Small Sea. Rest on Baikal attracts lovers of pristine nature and those who want to look at the deepest lake in the world to the greatest extent. At the same time, Olkhon attracts tourists precisely because of the combination of well-equipped recreation and almost perfect untouched nature.

One of the main attractions of the island is Mount Zhima, located on Cape Izhimey. It rises above Baikal by about eight hundred meters. An excursion with climbing it will take approximately the entire daylight hours - 10-12 hours, and the Nyurgansky and Sasa capes are called the most convenient areas for climbing the mountain.

The ascent to Zhima from the eastern end of the lake is also very picturesque, here tourists climb along the bed of the stream, which begins somewhat south of Cape Shutne-Right. It is most convenient to climb here in the summer when the stream dries up. But in the spring, on the contrary, it presents a rather majestic sight, forming a full-fledged waterfall. Olkhon becomes quietest in September. Then its silence is broken only by rare travelers and amateur photographers. Majestic forests paint impregnable rocks in crimson-yellow colors of autumn. Olkhon is interesting at any time of the year, because the primordial nature always captivates.
